With all the snow we’ve been getting these past few weeks, we are thinking about all the fun ways to spend a snow day in our neighborhoods. Check out the itineraries we came up with that you can enjoy with family, friends or solo to spend a lovely snow day in Lakeview or Roscoe Village!

Roscoe Village

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so start the day strong with breakfast from Orange Restaurant, Lucy’s Cafe, or Kitsch’n on Roscoe, or enjoy a lighter meal and a warm beverage and pastry from Botanical Cafe, Dip and Sip Donuts, or Starbucks on Roscoe Street.

While you’re in Roscoe, enjoy the snowfall with a stroll down Roscoe Street and stay warm by stopping into boutiques along the way for some snow day shopping, such as A Pied, Cinnamon Boutique, Kickin’, Moondance, and more. It’s the perfect time to look for new accessories, sweaters, or loungewear to keep you feeling cozy all winter. Don’t forget to grab a cute potted plant from Ki House, either.

For lunch, enjoy a classic burger and fries from The Region, or opt for a healthier alternative such as a poke bowl from Pokiology.

Relax in the afternoon by lighting a scented candle from a local store, such as And Studio, Kenneth Ludwig Chicago, or Winnie Cooper Boutique, and sit down to read a good book from RoscoeBooks.

You may be getting hungry after an afternoon of relaxation. Place an order for a takeout feast from one of your favorite local restaurants, such as Le Sud, Same Same, Savannah Supper Club, or Volo. While your out, stop by Lush Wine & Spirits for some wine or craft beer and Brick and Cake for dessert.

Now that you’re stocked on eats and drinks, zoom with a friend or put on a good movie to enjoy a lovely evening as the snow falls outside. If you feel like going out, meet some friends in The Village Tap’s beer garden where you can get a taste of summer.

And there you have it, a wonderful snow day spent in Roscoe Village.

Lakeview

As we mentioned, a good breakfast is the best way to start any day, but especially a snow day. Dine in or order takeout from a Lakeview breakfast spot, such as S&G, Golden Apple or Breakfast House. If you want a lighter meal, Doppio Coffee House, Coffee Lab Lakeview or Bombastic Cafe are perfect for a warm beverage and pastry.

Now that you are well fed, it’s time to enjoy the snow! Spend your morning building snow forts, snow people and starting a snowball fight. Be sure to sport winter gear you purchased from local Southport Corridor boutiques, such as Uncle Dan’s, The Denim Lounge for Men, Krista K Boutique, Click Shoes & More or The Guild.

After all that fun in the snow, warm up with a delicious lunch of empanadas from Cafe Tola or a family bundle of seafood and your favorite sides from Brown Bag Seafood.

A snow day afternoon is the perfect time to play those board games you picked up from Building Blocks Toy Store with your family or friends and make hot cocoa mix from Southport Grocery & Cafe or Candyality at home. Light your favorite scented candle from Waxman Candles, Aura Candle Bar or M2 Boutique to create a cozy ambiance as you watch the snow fall outside and your competitive nature comes out.

For dinner, order takeout or dine-in to enjoy a little bit of everything from one of your favorite local restaurants, such as Coda di Volpe, Papacito’s Mexican Grille, Port & Park Bistro & Bar or Chicago’s Pizza.

For after dinner fun, it’s time for a movie! Pick up curbside concessions from Music Box Theatre for the ultimate movie experience at home with movie theater popcorn and all. Be sure to add their Music Box Theater puzzle to your order to do a fun puzzle while you watch your movie. If you are more in the mood for an evening out, visit The Pony Inn’s rooftop bar for drinks.

Happy snow day!
