Join our next District Council meeting to hear from two leaders doing important work to understand and prevent gun violence in Chicago.

We are honored to welcome Jens Ludwig, Co-Founder and Director of the University of Chicago Crime Lab, to discuss his new book, Unforgiving Places. In his book, Ludwig explores how many violent incidents are driven by situations that escalate quickly, often in moments of heightened emotion without stopping to consider the consequences of their actions. He discusses behavioral interventions that can help people slow down, recognize moments of escalation, and make different choices.

We will also be joined by Hannaan Joplin, Senior Director of Becoming A Man (BAM), an organization that helps young men develop these very skills. Through BAM, young people learn to recognize when their emotions escalate and make more intentional decisions in difficult moments.
